CHANGING CHANNELS: PPR, the French retail and luxury conglomerate that controls Gucci Group, said on Thursday that it appointed Laurent Claquin to be communications director. Claquin, 34, succeeds Thomas Kamm, who is leaving the group after just over two years. Claquin was previously at Artemis, the private holding company through which François Pinault controls PPR. He holds an MBA in international management, and has worked as a consultant at Coopers & Lybrand. More recently, he oversaw communications at the Pompidou Center museum in Paris, and was deputy chief of staff to the French minister of culture.
MAIDENFORM’S IPO: Underwriters for Maidenform Brands Inc. in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday increased the size of its pending initial public offering to almost 12.8 million shares from 10 million shares. The price range is still expected at $14 to $16 a share. Maidenform is expect to price its IPO this week. The underwriters include UBS Investment Bank, Credit Suisse First Boston and Goldman Sachs & Co.
