CONE DIRECTOR ISSUES CHALLENGE: Dissident Cone Mills Corp. director Marc Kozberg and a group of affiliated investors who together own about 9.5 percent of the Greensboro, N.C.-based mill’s stock filed documents Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission nominating a slate of three directors to stand for election at Cone’s next annual meeting. They are Charles L. Barry, a retired fan-industry executive; Randall G. Kominsky, an executive with consulting firm Alliance for Financial Growth Inc., and Jess M. Ravich, an investment banker. Cone officials have not yet revealed a date for this year’s annual meeting. Typically the mill holds its shareholder meeting in March.
CAVALLI CREDIT: Roberto Cavalli, who has designed everything from women’s and men’s wear to eyewear and home decor, has found another category to apply his craft — credit cards. He has designed a co-branded credit card for Canadian retailer Holt Renfrew and American Express. Holt Renfrew will replace its existing in-store credit card with a specially designed American Express card. “It’ll be the world’s best-dressed credit card,” Andrew Jennings, president and managing director of Holt Renfrew, said in a statement. Jennings said the card will be loaded with shopping related features and benefits, including the new Holt Renfrew rewards program and the usual financial and service benefits of American Express membership. The card will be unveiled in early September at Holt Renfrew in Toronto.

As one of the most recognizable models in the world, Christy Turlington Burns has an insider’s view of the fashion industry and the allegations of sexual harassment swirling around it. “I can say that harassment and mistreatment have always been widely known and tolerated in the industry. 24-year-old Jean Prounis is redefining the rules of jewelry. Formerly a studio assistant to Jemima Kirke and a design apprentice at Ghuran, she focuses on handcrafted subtleties and ancient goldsmithing techniques. “There was a really sterile feel in the environment and I wanted to have jewelry with character that shapes how you wear it everyday,” Prounis said. Each piece is hand made in New York, either by Prounis or three other jewelers in the district. #wwdfashion
