CREW CHIEF: J. Crew said Scott Rosen resigned as chief financial officer and executive vice president of the company to pursue other opportunities. The New York-based specialty retailer said Nicholas Lamberti, its vice president and corporate controller, will serve as interim cfo while it looks for a permanent replacement. Rosen has been cfo since 1998 and was executive vice president since 1999. Before becoming cfo, he had been cfo of Crew’s mail-order division for four years.
MERVYN'S ON TRIAL: The trial in the case against Mervyn’s by Californians for Disability Rights, alleging that the retailer discriminates against people who use wheelchairs, is set to begin today [Tuesday] in Alameda County Courthouse in Oakland, Calif. The CDR said it plans to call Diane Neal, Mervyn’s president, to testify in the trial on Aug. 21. Mervyn’s is owned by Target Corp. CDR estimated the trial will last through the early part of September.
