DIAMONDS ON DISPLAY: A new exhibit, called “The Splendor of Diamonds,” will open on June 27 at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. Seven rare colored diamonds will be featured in the show, which is to be held in the museum’s Harry Winston Gallery, the permanent home of the Hope Diamond. Among the diamonds on display will be the 203-carat De Beers Millennium Star; Ocean Dream, considered the world’s largest natural blue-green diamond; Steinmetz Pink, a 59.6-carat pink stone, and Moussaieff Red, the largest known red diamond in the world. Sponsored by the Steinmetz Group of Geneva and the Gemological Institute of America, the exhibit will run through Sept. 15.

"It's really hard sometimes. I think I have a reputation for being really tough and aggressive and pushy but I really am a very shy person who wants to be liked, and that's the conflict constantly. There's something that takes hold - I want people to like me, I don't want to be mean - but if I see something that just cries out to be answered, I go for it," says renowned NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
