JONES PROMOTION: Jones Apparel Group has promoted Tony Scatuccio to vice president of sales for the company's L.E.I. business. Scatuccio is responsible for all business development relating to the branded and private label divisions for the junior sportswear label. He reports to Barry Bates, president of L.E.I. Scatuccio has been with L.E.I. for four years as division head for plus sizes. Earlier, he was vice president of Space Girls, a junior sportswear and denim company.

WORLD BANK REPORT: The 42 percent rise in oil prices this year is likely to slow growth of the global economy to 3.2 percent in 2006, or 0.25 percent less than if oil prices had remained stable, according to a World Bank report. Global oil prices are expected to average $56 per barrel in 2006, according to the study, up 4.5 percent from this year's average of $53.60 per barrel and up from $37.70 per barrel in 2004. However, oil prices are expected to decline by 8 percent in 2007 to $51.50 per barrel. The study, called "Global Economic Prospects, 2006," warns that future price spikes could have a negative impact on the global economic outlook. "A price hike generated by sustained negative supply shock would be particularly disruptive, because output would be constrained by reduced availability," said the report.
