NEW ADIDAS POST: Adidas Salomon AG on Thursday named Hermann Deininger to be head of brand and creative direction for Adidas, a new post. The appointment, effective April 1, follows Wednesday’s announcement that Michael Michalsky has stepped down as creative director to pursue his own lifestyle brand. Deininger, an Adidas veteran, is head of the sport heritage, sport style and global retail divisions. He will keep those responsibilities and assume management of Adidas’ design and innovation teams, as well as corporate identity and corporate design. Deininger, 46, will report to Erich Stamminger, president and chief executive officer of Adidas brand. He also will oversee global trend and lifestyle marketing, as well as the Adidas licensee business.
SOTOS NAMED JONES CFO: Efthimios P. Sotos has been appointed chief financial officer at Jones Apparel Group. Wesley R. Card, who has held the dual positions of chief operating and financial officer since 2002, will continue as chief operating officer. In addition, Patrick M. Farrell has been named executive vice president, corporate controller. Sotos and Card report to ceo Peter Boneparth. Farrell reports to Sotos. Most recently, Sotos was executive vice president, treasurer, strategic and financial planning. Before September 2005, he held the posts of senior vice president and treasurer, and corporate vice president and treasurer. Sotos joined Jones in 1999 as part of the company’s acquisition of Nine West Group, where he was assistant treasurer. Farrell was appointed senior vice president in September 1999. He had been vice president and corporate controller since November 1997.
