NEW FACE: Gucci said it has appointed Brian Blake as president and chief executive officer of Boucheron and Gucci Group’s watch division. Blake, who will retain his current title of executive vice president at Gucci, succeeds Massimo Macchi. Gucci said that Macchi, who joined the company in January 2001, is leaving both positions for personal reasons and will continue as a consultant to the group. Blake has been with Gucci since 1987, holding various positions, including those of Gucci America president and Gucci Division president and ceo.
PAYOFF PENDING: Cherokee Inc. has requested court confirmation of the $2.9 million final arbitration award it’s awaiting from Mossimo Inc. over finder’s fee royalties generated by Mossimo’s Cherokee-brokered three-year licensing deal with Target. Under terms of the award, Cherokee will recover attorneys’ fees and interest on the royalties. The dispute stems from Mossimo’s attempts to recover fees associated with design services personally provided by the designer’s chief executive, Mossimo Giannulli. Mossimo’s contract with Target was recently extended through January 2005.
