PERRY ELLIS EYES: Perry Ellis International has inked a licensing deal with Lantis Eyewear Corp. As part of the three-year arrangement, Lantis will manufacture and distribute sunglasses for the Perry Ellis, Perry Ellis Portfolio and Perry Ellis America divisions. Product will launch at department and sunglass specialty stores this fall. Perry Ellis has an existing ophthalmic license with Oxford Ophthalmic.
P.R. APPOINTMENT: Polo Ralph Lauren has named Garine Zerounian as director of women’s public relations for the U.S. market. Zerounian had been manager of men’s, women’s and accessories public relations, events and celebrity dressing at Yves Saint Laurent, a unit of Gucci Group. She will oversee all domestic press for Ralph Lauren’s women’s Collection, Black Label, Blue Label and Collection accessories businesses. Zerounian reports to Rebekah Hirsch, vice president of fashion communications at Polo Ralph Lauren.
NEW RECRUIT: Kerson Partners, the Greenwich, Conn.-based executive search firm, has named veteran recruiter Julianne Martensen as a vice president. Martensen has 10 years experience recruiting in the consumer products, consumer services and retail sectors, and was previously with Heidrick & Struggles’ consumer practice division, responsible for international retail, fashion and luxury goods search activities. At Spencer Stuart, she was a generalist responsible for search strategy and execution in the retail, consumer products, services and health care industries. Prior to that, she held corporate recruiting and staffing positions at Melville Corp. Kerson Partners is headed by Robert Kerson, who reentered the search business in 2004, after sitting on the sidelines for about a year due to a noncompete agreement with Korn/Ferry International, where he was managing director of global retail practice.
WAL-MART’S NEW NOTES: Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said in a brief statement Tuesday that it took the first steps for a proposed offering of $1 billion in notes due 2010. Lehman Brothers Inc. and Morgan Stanley & Co. will serve as lead underwriters for the offering, which will be priced today.
