PRADA PRUNES: Prada is considering job cuts at one of its production plants in the coastal Italian town of Ancona, a company spokesman said Thursday. He said the company is meeting with union officials about the future of the production site and it’s too soon to say how many jobs could be eliminated. A local press report said that Prada wants to cut about 70 jobs, or about a third of the facility, a former Genny factory.
SOUTHPOLE GETS NEW V.P.: Southpole has named Burt Damsky to the new post of vice president of Lot 29, a juniors’ and young men’s division that produces and markets character-driven sportswear and casual clothing through a licensing partnership with Warner Bros.-Looney Tunes. Damsky provides merchandising guidance and strategic direction in addition to guiding sales, merchandising and design efforts. He reports to Justin Fishman, vice president of sales. Most recently, Damsky was vice president at Lemon Grass, a sportswear company, where he directed sales and merchandising.
