TRUE RELIGION DEALS: True Religion Apparel Inc. has signed licensing agreements to introduce True Religion branded footwear, headwear, scarves and gloves to the market. Italy's GMI Corp., which holds the license for Levi's footwear, has global rights to manufacture and sell shoes, sneakers, boots and sandals. True Religion footwear is to launch at the WSA footwear show in February. Paramount Apparel International has been tapped to manufacture and market headwear, scarves and gloves that will debut at the MAGIC Marketplace, also occurring in Las Vegas in February.
CONTRERI MEMORIAL SET: A memorial service for Charles Contreri, who was a professor of fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology here for 35 years, will be held Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. at FIT Building A in the eighth-floor Faculty Lounge. Earlier in his career, Contreri was a fashion designer and a partner in Charles Wallace Fashions Inc., a women's apparel manufacturer no longer in operation. A scholarship in his name has been established by the school's Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries.
UNION TAPS CREATIVE DIRECTOR: Union, the premium denim label from Seattle Pacific Industries, which manufacturers the Unionbay label, has appointed Christopher Enuke as creative director. Enuke founded the Oliver Twist and Oligo Tissew brands and has more than 20 years of design experience. He succeeds Silvio Marceca and reports to Scott Bonomo, president of Union.
