UNLIMITED HORIZONS: Jim Oien and Linda Eddy have left Limited Brands to take the posts of vice presidents of planning-allocation and real estate, respectively, at Pacific Sunwear of California, the 803-unit specialty chain based in Anaheim, Calif. Oien, whose post has been vacant for about eight months, reports to Tim Harmon, president and chief merchandising officer, while Eddy steps into a new post and reports to Shelley Smith, senior vice president of real estate. Oien was with Limited Brands for 18 years, most recently as vice president of distribution planning with Limited Logistics Services. Eddy is rejoining Pac Sun, where she was previously regional director of leasing, after two and half years as Limited Brands’ regional vice president of real estate.
SOLE SURVIVORS: Industrial designer Yves Béhar is trying to give Birkenstock a kick. His big departure, closed-toe designs for the 232-year-old label, will be unveiled at today’s opening of the "National Design Triennial: Inside Design Now" at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City. Aimed at urbanites who might not tie themselves to the brand’s earthy- crunchy roots, the new line still has such down-home touches as recyclable cork and compostable techno gels but with a sleek design. The $225 kicks hit select stores next month.
MOVING IN: Value City Department Stores has relocated its Boston buying office to 469 Seventh Avenue in New York. "Having an office in the heart of the industry saves us time, travel and expenses," said Stuart Glasser, president of softlines. "It also allows us to take advantage of opportunities that we could possibly miss." At the new offices, Glasser will be supported by David Dash, senior vice president of men’s and children’s, and Lou Virag, senior vice president of women’s apparel. Value City, based in Columbus, Ohio, operates 116 discount department stores called Value City and Schottenstein Stores, 126 DSW stores and 20 Filene’s Basements.The company maintains buying offices in Columbus and Los Angeles.
