IN THE GROOVE: To celebrate the opening of its 10,000-square-foot store in Manhattan’s Union Square on Saturday, Mexx, the European brand that began its U.S. invasion last month with a Fifth Avenue location, will hold a day’s worth of DJs spinning everything from futuristic house to hip-hop.

From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. this Saturday, Alex Lauterstein, Peter Rauhofer, Kid Capri and Junior Sanchez are the ingredients of what Mexx described as “a raucous recipe for unbridled music, fun and, of course, style.” Free DJ classes will be held on the second floor of the store in conjunction with the Scratch DJ academy. The party will then be kept alive on Nov. 8 with Kool DJ Red Alert, Beverly Bond, Tony Touch and Mark Ronson.

HARVE BENARD’S BENT FOR LEATHER: New Frontier Holdings, a division of Windsong Inc., has inked a licensing agreement with Harvé Benard for U.S. distribution of women’s suede and leather sportswear and outerwear.

The line, which will include a variety of skins and treatments, will launch in January and hit department and specialty stores nationwide next fall. The two firms will work together on design of the line, which will be sold under the Harvé Benard label. New Frontier owns the Joe Boxer and Hathaway brands and has licensing arrangements with Saturday Night Live, Hawaiian Tropic and Geoffrey Beene.
