Sin City has recreation and relaxation options for every taste and budget.
BOULDERED OVER Off the Strip and near a majestic national conservation area, the new Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa offers an alternative to congested Vegas central. On opening night in April, VIP guests were regaled by music icon Sting at an alfresco concert followed by fireworks over the mountains. Since then, the buzz has been growing about the expansive 414-room, 3,200-slot machine complex, a hybrid of Sin City glitz and Red Rock Canyon's natural wonders. There's something for everyone, from adventure enthusiasts looking for a guided hike ($99) or wild river rafting ($175) to party people craving a late night followed by an indulgent Crystal Caviar Facial ($190) at the world class spa. Cherry, the resident night club, is the latest offering from nightlife impresario Rande Gerber, aka Mr. Cindy Crawford. Filled with suggestive architectural details that mimic women's lips and Japanese cherries, as well as its own private pool, the spot is tongue-in-cheek modern glam. Then there are the Zen guest rooms, decked out in soothing earth tones and, for the lucky, stunning views of the Mojave Desert. Get-'em-while-you-can introductory rates start at $129, but standard accommodations begin at about $200 and range to "wildest dream" prices. HOG WILD The downtown Las Vegas version of Hogs & Heifers saloon, the famed New York bar that inspired the movie "Coyote Ugly," keeps things simple. Cold brews, stiff shots, loud classic rock and saucy waitresses are the tried-and-true ingredients for good times. While celebs like Julia Roberts and Drew Barrymore have gone topless at the East Coast counterpart, owner Michelle Dell has opted to keep the new joint low-key. Through October, patrons enjoy blues and barbecue on the fourth Sunday of each month. Most drinks average $5 or less. Complete with a souvenir shop, the taproom is just the antidote to an overload of Vegas action, a place where locals and out-of-town visitors alike can kick back as female bartenders hop onto the bar and serve drinks. You can also find a big-name biker, a NASCAR pro or master illusionist Criss Angel at this hidden watering hole. Open 1 p.m.-4 a.m. daily. Hogs & Heifers Saloon, 1201 North Third Street, Las Vegas; 702-676-1457.ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE Cirque du Soleil's offerings in Vegas include "O," "Mystere," "Zumanity" and "Ka." Beginning June 30, the Mirage will play host to "The Beatles Love By Cirque du Soleil," a production that blends the troupe's acrobatic feats with the songs of the Beatles. It will replace the Sigfried & Roy big cat extravaganza, a hard act to follow. Seeds for the project were sewn by the late George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte, who were close friends. Original Fab Four producer Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin devised the score for the spectacle, scouring the Apple Corps. Ltd. label archives, music's equivalent of Fort Knox, for the perfect material. In its fifth Strip exhibition, Cirque promises to deliver gasp-inducing aerial theater and 60 performers tumbling, contorting and dancing in the multimedia show. The 100-foot-tall video screens, wall of sound and 2,013-seat space should stimulate the senses, but the performance's creators say their mission is much less distracting. They just want to share love through the music of another era. For schedules and reservations: cirquedusoleil.com, mirage.com, 800-963-9634, or 702-792-7777. — Martine Bury

“I just wanted to create this fully rounded character, but I do think what excited me most was just the opportunity to give a group of people representation that I feel needs it. I like to do characters in projects that stand for something and Karolina definitely does, so that was really exciting to me,” @ginnygardner says of her new role in @hulu’s “The Runaways.” Gardner plays Karolina Dean, a queer superhero, which is a rarity for @marvel. “Azzedine has been one of the biggest influences in my life. He has always been such a strong, loving, fatherly figure to me. I call him Papa. His designs are indescribably unique, they are pieces of art. He knew how to make the female form look its loveliest. I have so many memories of him; my favorite might be during my first show with him in Paris. He liked me and he wanted to help me get more work. He called all his friends at Kenzo and Comme des Garcons, and asked them to book me. They said, ‘But she can’t walk!’ And he said, ‘but she has such a great ass!' His friendship and support has been the great privilege of my career. I can't imagine life without him. Repose en paix mon Papa.” - @stephanieseymour tells @wwd. #wwdfashion (📷: @steveeichner) #alaia #azzedinealaia
Azzedine Alaïa, flanked by two of his closest friends, models Stephanie Seymour and Naomi Campbell.
He designed Seymour’s dress for her 1995 wedding to Peter Brant, and treated Campbell (who famously called him Papa), like a daughter. For more on the legendary designer, tap the link in bio. #wwdfashion #alaia #azzedinealaia
