PARIS — The impact of a possible war didn’t seem to affect overall visitor attendance, according to SIL show organizers, who said total attendance was ahead 8.7 percent to 22,365 visitors compared with a year ago.International attendance was up 6.8 percent against a year ago, totaling 11,408 visitors. Attendance from French visitors grew 10.7 percent to 10,957.The top five visiting countries were:Italy with a 19.1 increase totaling 1,799 visitors.Spain with an 8.7 percent gain to 820.The U.K., which posted an 8.2 percent increase to 772.Germany, which was up 8 percent to 752.Belgium with a 5.9 percent gain to 554.The U.S. grew 5.6 percent to 527.Jehan Quettier, general director of show producer Eurovet, acknowledged the timing of the show in conjunction with the prospect of a war created a "challenge," but said the number of international brands exhibited increased 13 percent to 518 labels, 109 of which were labels shown for the first time at the fair.
