The pact with Dana-co will begin Jan. 1 after a previous licensing agreement with VF Intimates expires.
A first-year sales projection was not available, but the foundations collection is estimated to generate wholesale sales of more than $15 million, according to industry sources. The Natori company generates estimated annual wholesale sales in excess of $40 million.
Josie Natori, president and chief executive officer of the Natori firm, said: “It’s been a great 13 years working with VF Intimates and we have developed a strong mutual respect with all involved. We are grateful to their team for making Natori one of the premier brands in foundations.”
“At this point in the Natori company’s growth,” continued Natori, “we are pleased with the opportunity to work with Dana-co. We feel that with the proven track record of John Bowman and Zvi Ertel, along with their passion and energy focused exclusively on the Natori brand, the partnership will bring Natori to its full potential in this category.”
Ertel is Dana-co’s ceo and Bowman is president. The first collection under the new license will include existing and new styles in the Natori White Label Collection, as well as the introduction of the Black Label Collection, both of which will be previewed in May 2003. Deliveries are scheduled for spring 2004.
