LOVING PARIS: More than 75 executives of the innerwear and textile industries turned out for the Underfashion Club’s annual “I Love Paris” seminar.

The workshop, held Feb. 19 at the New York Helmsley Hotel, focused on the trends of the Salon International de la Lingerie and Interfilière textile show in Paris.

Speakers included Iris LeBron, fashion director of intimate apparel, swimwear and activewear at DuPont Textiles & Interiors; Walter Costello, an account executive at Macra Lace Co., and Barbara Lipton, vice president of merchandising and design for the licensed Donna Karan Intimates and DKNY Underwear collections at Wacoal America.

LeBron outlined a number of “fresh” ideas, including:

Photographic art of corsetry.

Printed and appliquéd French mesh.

Tortoise-shell motifs.

Asymmetrical side lacing and contrasting bright lacing on a black ground.

Scallop edging.

“About 10 percent of the collections I saw were new on the scene,” LeBron said. “They were surprisingly inspirational, especially considering the state of the economy on both sides of the Atlantic.”

DOING SESAME STREET: The SBH/Jacques Moret Intimates unit of Jacques Moret will unveil a licensed line of junior intimate apparel and loungewear this week bearing the licensed Sesame Street label.

Deliveries are scheduled for back-to-school business. Initial distribution will be at Hot Topic, a junior chain.

Styles will include camis, boy-cut briefs, bikinis, hipster briefs, dorm shirts, drawstring pants, shorts, tanks and pullovers. Motifs of Sesame Street characters will include Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and Ernie. Special effects will include rubber prints, embroidered patches and placement embroidery.

A first-year wholesale sales projection was not available, but industry sources estimate sales could exceed $3 million.

NEUBURGER MAKES MOVES: Dustin Samuel Eber has been named to the new post of president of KN Ltd., San Francisco Network and the Eber International family of companies. He reports to Leonard Eber, chairman.

Dustin Samuel Eber was formerly vice president of licensing for the KN firm, maker of innerwear bearing the Karen Neuburger name. He began his career at Eber International, a manufacturer of women’s and children’s apparel and worked in several areas, including distribution, shipping, receiving, accounting, customer service and merchandising. He also served as a sales manager at San Francisco Network, the sales, design and merchandising arm of Karen Neuburger sleepwear. In 1999, he was promoted to vice president of domestic and international sales.

CARESSING HARESTAD: Katherine Harestad has joined Los Angeles-based Caresse Inc. as a sleepwear and lingerie designer. Caresse produces junior innerwear under the Blue Daisy label and specializes in product development for specialty stores.

Harestad was formerly designer and president of White Rose Designs. She reports to Ray Sahranavard, president and owner of Caresse.
