MAIDENFORM SLEEPS EASY: Maidenform Inc. has signed a licensing pact with Vandale Industries to manufacture a line of flame-resistant sleepwear for boys’ and girls’ bearing the Maidenform name. Garments will feature a Slumber Safe fabric decal on the front of each top.

The first-year wholesale sales projection is $5 million, said Maurice Setton, chief executive officer of Vandale.

Setton said the key to the product is its flame-resistant cotton that’s loose fitting. He added, “When someone buys sleepwear for a child, they typically prefer to see the children in cotton, not polyester.” Distribution for spring is aimed at department stores.

FELDMAN TAPPED: Susan Matza Feldman has been named to the new post of president of sales for the Lauren by Ralph Lauren sleepwear division at Carole Hochman Designs.

The first collection of the Lauren Ralph Lauren sleepwear will be unveiled at the January innerwear market in the division’s new showroom on the fifth floor of 135 Madison Avenue in Manhattan. The Hochman showroom and offices also are on the sixth floor at the same location. Feldman reports to Carole Hochman, president and design director, and Neal Hochman, corporate secretary.

Feldman is a 10-year veteran of Authentic Fitness Corp., where she was president of sales for the designer swimwear divisions, and headed sales for swimwear by Ralph Lauren, Anne Cole, Cole of California and Oscar de la Renta.

KOMAR PROMOTES: Two executives at Charles Komar & Sons have been promoted: Greg Holland, to executive vice president of sales, and Emmett O’Brien, to vice president of special markets.

Holland, who reports to Charles Komar, president and chief executive officer, formerly was vice president, national sales manager and regional sales manager. O’Brien had been regional sales manager for the Northeast. Holland will absorb the responsibilities of his former post, while Sherri Steiner will manage O’Brien’s former Macy’s East account. O’Brien will report to Holland, and Steiner to O’Brien.

In addition to private label, the company is a manufacturer and marketer of sleepwear bearing the Aria, Earth Angels, Planet Sleep, Celestial Dreams, Lanz of Switzerland, and The Girls Sleepwear labels, as well as the licensed collections of Liz Claiborne Sleepwear, Eileen West and Villager Sleepwear.

ST. EVE TEAM NAMED: Lingerie manufacturer St. Eve has named its executive team to three new posts following the death of its founder and chairman Steve C. Demakos, who died in February.

Stephen Demakos has been associated with St. Eve since 1979, spending the early part of his career in Hong Kong where one of the company’s production facilities is located. John Demakos has worked for St. Eve For Kids since 1983, most recently as executive vice president of the division.
