HUG HONOREES: Andrew and Mimi Sia, the husband-and-wife team that heads ACE Style Intimate Apparel, will be recipients of the 2007 HUG Award. The award will be presented by the Intimate Apparel Square Club at a gala cocktail and dinner-dance on Nov. 6 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. They are being honored for their community service and dedication to making intimate apparel an important segment of the fashion apparel industry. The Sias are the first married couple who are business partners to be awarded the HUG Award in its nine-year history.
Andrew Sia is corporate director and Mimi Sia is chief executive officer of the firm, one of Hong Kong's largest manufacturers of intimate apparel and bodywear with an annual output of more than 25 million garments. The couple founded the company in 1985 with a factory employing 60 workers in Taikoktsui, Kowloon, China. The company has grown into a vertically integrated, international corporation with production facilities in Hong Kong, China, Honduras and the Philippines, and customer service and product development offices in New York, Montreal and London.
