SHOWCASING LINGERIE IN LONDON: Designer Samantha Chang staged her first lingerie trade show in London at the Fifty-Four Boutique Hotel in South Kensington. The two-day fair, which closed Sept. 18, featured 17 intimate apparel and swimwear brands — BedHead, Wendy Glez, Commando, Myla, Emily B Lingerie, Amoralia, Aloe, Hoola, Papinelle, Julianne, Emobli, Zovo, Lelo, Fleur T, Sommes Chic, Samantha Chang and And God Created Woman — showing spring merchandise.
"We had about 80 buyers, including Harvey Nichols and Fenwicks, as well as buyers from small luxury boutiques, mostly regional," Chang said. "There also were a lot of Web site businesses like Figleaves.com, stylists and consumer press."
Chang added, "We plan to do a Boutique Lingerie London show twice a year during London Fashion Week. We haven't decided the date for the next show, but it should be around mid-February at the same location."
She described the fair as "both a writing show and a get-to-know everybody show."
"We had a cocktail party every day from 5 to 7 p.m., and it was great because everybody including retailers, exhibitors and stylists were able to connect," Chang said.
