MILAN — Tod’s is increasingly working its way up from the feet to the arms.

To gauge consumer reaction, the luxury goods group has launched its first piece of jewelry, a steel bangle covered with ruby red crocodile skin and adorned with the company’s signature pebbles.

The limited-edition bracelet, which retails for $302, will be in the Tod’s stores in Milan, Florence, Rome and Venice for Christmas.

It will roll out to other Tod’s stores internationally with the spring collection at the end of February. By then, the jewelry collection will comprise more styles and colors, currently in the works.

As for its retail expansion, Tod’s is headed east. This year, the luxury goods group has opened stores in Hong Kong; Singapore; Shanghai; Taipei, and Jakarta, Indonesia. A store in Manila, in the Philippines, opened Nov. 13, and other stores in Korea and Taiwan are under consideration.

Meanwhile, Prada Group also is reinforcing its presence in Asia.

“[Prada] has identified China as one of the emerging markets in which to concentrate a significant part of its resources for future development,” said a spokesman.

The company opened a freestanding store on Nov. 20 in Guangzhou, a city with four-million inhabitants. The store is the first in Southern China and the seventh in that country. The 4,104-square-foot boutique spans two floors and is housed in the exclusive “La Perle” shopping mall.
