MILAN — Valentino’s first line of watches features a mixture of luxurious details with everyday styling.
Marzotto, Valentino’s parent, signed an agreement last year with Sector Group SpA for a line of luxury timepieces for both its Valentino and Moschino brands, as reported. In the Valentino line, four models are offered in 17 different combinations inspired by the themes and designs of the designer’s spring collection.
The Rose model blends romantic touches, such as a silk chiffon ribbon bracelet, the flower’s pattern in shiny or burnished steel, with clear or dark crystals. It has an innovative Swiss mechanism whereby pressure on the back of the watch regulates the position of the hour and minute hands.
The Fascia model features a crocodile or calf strap and a dial enriched with semiprecious stones, such as onyx, coral and turquoise paste. The Valentino V stands out on the Logo model inscribed in a circle in different red and black ceramic, gold, onyx, silver and crystal combinations. The adjustable leather-knot strap adds a young touch to the look.
Inspired by Forties’ men’s watches, the Ovale model comes in pink gold, matte finish or burnished steel. With a lizard or alligator strap, it features crystal baguettes in black amber, ruby or sapphire tones.
The line retails at prices starting at $700 and will be available at select watch and jewelry stores in Europe, the U.S., Japan, Southeast Asia, the Mideast and Brazil, and in Valentino boutiques. Valentino expects retail sales of about $150 million from the five-year license with Sector Group.
Meanwhile, the new Moschino watch collection has distinctive brand elements. For instance, heart-shaped pendants, the symbol of peace and the letter M mark the "Hours & Minutes" collection, which include the "I Love Moschino" and the "Time 4 Peace" versions. Retail prices go from $170 to $345. The watches will be available in the U.S. in the second half of the year.
Both lines will officially be unveiled at the World Watch & Jewellery show in Basel, Switzerland next month.
