The junior division of the Chic jeans line is going for a new look on its hangtags, pocket flashers and labels. Starting with the spring season, the junior line's tags changed from a pastel sketch of a girl standing in a field to a graphic design in turquoise, coral and blue.

Vice president of merchandising Martha Wakefield said the move was made to create a more definite identity for the junior division.

"We felt this had more visual impact and was a little hipper," she said. "We had great success when we redesigned the kids' line last year, and now we're going to address that in the junior market."

In another move to change the look of the jeans themselves, for the first time in Chic history the right back pocket's large embroidered Chic logo will be replaced by a small ribbon loop.

"It's revolutionary," said Wakefield.
