NEW YORK — Jennifer Lopez’s fans can already wear her namesake clothing brand and her fragrance. Now they can also don her sunglasses.
The singer herself has signed a deal with Denver-based Outlook Eyewear Co. for a line of sunglasses to debut in department stores this fall. This deal is independent of Sweetface Fashion Co., which is the holding company for Lopez’s apparel line and other licensed product categories.
Sweetface opted not to pick up eyewear as part of the initial agreement, according to a company spokesman. Denise Seegal, president and chief executive officer at Sweetface, said the deal includes virtually every other product category.
The sunglass line retails for between $30 and $50, and includes a range of styles such as rimless shields and oversized plastic frames. Some silhouettes are accented with Swarovski crystals, and many have logo treatments.
Outlook projects the line will generate $4 million in wholesale volume in the first year.
“These sunglasses are consistent and in sync with today’s trends and offered at a desirable price point that will appeal to juniors as well as customers who spend more for eyewear,” said Luisa Natale, president of Outlook Eyewear, which is owned by giant eyewear firm Luxottica Group.
Lopez remains one of the hottest celebrities, and her apparel products have generated about $64 million in wholesale volume in its first year, according to industry sources.
