NEW YORK — Time for the early-bird special. The spring collections ended barely a month ago, but that didn't stop Giorgio Armani from getting a jump start on pre-fall with Armani Collezioni, which opens for market this week. With a focus on novelty items, he's showing lots of little jackets worked in a variety of fabrics and skins, from nubby tweeds to treated leathers. Armani's biggest push, though, is on the tailored dress — from a lapel shirtdress for day to a fitted feathered cocktail number for evening.
