NEW YORK — Angela Janklow Harrington has joined Dolce & Gabbana in the new post of managing director, special projects, Western region.

Her responsibilities will include generating opportunities for Dolce & Gabbana North America, including brand expansion through special film, television, publishing and music projects. She will be in charge of all aspects of West Coast-based communication acting as Los Angeles liaison with the company’s offices in New York and Milan.

Janklow Harrington, who will be based at Dolce & Gabbana offices on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, reports to Gabriela Forte, president of Dolce & Gabbana USA.

Most recently, Janklow Harrington was president of her own consulting firm, Mouth Inc., which advised such media companies as AOL Time Warner, Mondadori and Viacom. Earlier she was founder and editor in chief of Time Inc. Ventures’ Mouth 2 Mouth and That Glow, a Web site for a multimedia corporation targeting pregnant women. She began her career as a bicoastal reporter for Vanity Fair, and later joined ABC’s “Good Morning America” as an on-camera entertainment correspondent. She has also been a senior editor, West Coast, for Penguin Putnam.

“There’s a lot to be done. There’s a huge untapped market out here. Gabriela and I have been cooking up a heady brew,” said Janklow Harrington. She said there is a lot of opportunity for Dolce & Gabbana in Las Vegas and particularly in movies.

“I have a couple of ideas to begin [with movies] in the early phase of preproduction and with larger-scale cinematic and theatrical projects that are in the works. [Dolce & Gabbana’s] designs lend themselves toward drama and the theater. They’re so inspired by Hollywood,” Harrington said.

“They’ve always had their tentacles fastened to music,” she added. “We’re going to add greater depth and clarity in all areas of entertainment. It will be multifaceted — keeping true to the Dolce philosophy and funneling and channeling their style into West Coast-based projects.”
