Matohu’s spring/summer collection included: Deconstructed kimono wrap dresses, delicate silk prints and several embroidered numbers. The husband and wife design team Hiroyuki Horihata and Makiko Sekiguchi, printed their fabrics and then shrunk them to simulate an ancient Japanese tie-dying technique that disappeared after the Edo period. “It’s very, very complicated to make it,” Horihata said.
