The informational event will feature keynote speaker Allison Pearson, author of “I Don’t Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother,” and will also include a seminar with wardrobe specialists to help participants with their fashion selections. Jones has partnered with Macy’s for the event to help with personal style selections.
“It’s what we call a ‘lunch, learn and shop’ event,” said Stacy Lastrina, senior vice president of marketing at Jones Apparel Group. “It was created by talking to consumers in our focus groups and realizing their passion for achieving their own personal style, yet they have limited time in which they have to accomplish this. We see this as an added service, given their lack of time, and we wanted to do this in a way that fits into her back-to-work life.”
For shopping convenience, the lunch-shop event will feature a full assortment of spring merchandise from Jones New York Sport, Collection and Dress lines, in sizes ranging from petite to plus, as well as the company’s new handbag collection. Dressing rooms also will be available for the roughly 200 women who have registered.
Following New York, the Work/Life series will travel to five cities — Boston, Chicago, Milwaukee, Los Angeles and San Francisco — visiting the workplaces of about 40 leading employers across the country who have taken a stance in providing programs and services for their female employees.
In addition to Merrill Lynch, the program also will be hosted in companies such as Ernst & Young LLP, S.C. Johnson & Son Inc., Allstate and Credit Suisse First Boston.
