NEW YORK -- Norma Kamali has put together a wide-ranging assortment of belts under a licensing agreement with Roma Industries, here.
Kamali's belts feature both fashion and sport items. Part of the 19-piece line was launched at the Accessorie Circuit here this month, and the other part will be introduced at the New York Premier Collections trade show slated for Feb. 13-15 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
The line wholesales from $15 to $165, and first-year wholesale volume is projected at $1 million. The most expensive group is in lizard and alligator skins, the bridge groups in leather, and the gym/sport group in canvas and leather. The line also includes a group of bracelets that look like miniature versions of the belts.
Kamali said the gym group includes an item called "the suspender," on which women can anchor a tape player or water bottle.
The gym belts will also be shown at The Super Show sporting goods trade show in the World Congress Center in Atlanta this Friday through Monday, Feb. 4-7.
Roma Industries will distribute the line, which is targeted at better specialty and department stores.
In addition, the line will be offered to consumers through Kamali's 1-800 number and at her boutique here.
