NEW YORK -- Donna Karan reeled in $650,000 in fall orders in a two-day trunk show at Bergdorf Goodman last Wednesday and Thursday.
The event started with a breakfast and fashion show for about 100 of Karan's best Bergdorf's customers, who got to meet and chat with the designer. Afterward, many followed her to her third-floor boutique, where she visited with shoppers for a couple of hours.
Jackets were key items, and knee-length skirts also did well. Bestsellers included 19 neon pink contour turtleneck jackets in wool velour, which sold for $1,350; 18 wool twill contour turtleneck jackets, in black or dark brown, sold at $1,150; matte stretch riding pants sold 30 units at $495; 21 knee-length seamed pencil skirts sold at $450; 15 melange twill four-button jackets sold at $1,295, and 14 pairs of wool twill pleated trousers sold at $595.
