NEW YORK -- Lewis Kasman, a principal with Albie Trimming Co., a family-owned trimmings manufacturer at 229 West 36th St., pleaded guilty in Brooklyn Federal Court last week to lying to a 1990 Federal grand jury investigating John Gotti and the Gambino organized crime family.

According to the charges, Kasman, who often played up his relationship with Gotti by saying he was like an "adopted son" of the convicted murderer and racketeer, lied to the grand jury in April and October of 1990 by saying he was not familiar with the terms "Gambino," "capo" or "consigliere." In a plea agreement, six other counts against Kasman were dropped.

Kasman faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on Aug. 25, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney James Orenstein.
