NEW YORK — Carol Kerner, president of the Donna Karan and DKNY women’s lines, has resigned. Sources said she tendered her resignation several weeks ago, and Karan management tried to convince her to stay, but she made her final decision to leave last Friday. She didn’t return a phone call seeking comment.A Karan spokeswoman said Kerner is leaving for personal reasons, and will continue to work through a transition period. A successor has not yet been named.“Her contributions and professionalism are greatly appreciated, and on a personal level, we will miss her,” said Donna Karan.Kerner joined Karan in 1998 as president of the DKNY women’s line, and added women’s Collection in November 1999. Before DKI, Kerner was senior vice president and general merchandise manager of J. Crew women’s apparel, andshe had been president of Calvin Klein Women’s Sport. She had several posts at Warnaco, including vice president of merchandising for women’s sportswear. She began her career at Macy’s New York.
