NEW YORK — A Kmart spokesman said Wednesday that Nicholas Just, the general merchandise manager for apparel, “left the company at the end of last week.”

The spokesman declined to provide any other details, but noted that the slot will likely be filled by promoting some of Kmart’s existing staff. He declined to disclose what positions those candidates might fill. So far, Kmart still hasn’t named a chief merchandising officer. Bill Underwood, the retailer’s sourcing and global logistics point-person, has been handling those responsibilities.
