NEW YORK -- Michael Kors's customers apparently like the retro look.
Their fondness for glamorously cut jackets and slacks resulted in $100,000 in sales for the designer at a Henri Bendel trunk show in Chicago last Friday.
Kors, who was at the show, named several of his designs after Thirties and Forties movie stars like Greta Garbo and Lana Turner.
Among the bestsellers: two fitted gabardine Garbo jackets, at $495; eight gabardine Hollywood pants, at $295; two fitted Lana jackets in linen, at $495, and three Empire single-breasted blazers in linen, at $495.
