NEW YORK — Lord & Taylor forged a fortuitous connection between high art and haute cuisine Tuesday when it hosted a cocktail party to fete Spanish artist Manolo Valdés’ works and chef Larry Forgione’s new eatery — both of which can now be found at its Fifth Avenue flagship.

Valdés’ sculptures and paintings are currently on display in the windows, while Larry Forgione’s restaurant, An American Place, opened on the fifth floor.
