NEW YORK — Lord & Taylor forged a fortuitous connection between high art and haute cuisine Tuesday when it hosted a cocktail party to fete Spanish artist Manolo Valdés’ works and chef Larry Forgione’s new eatery — both of which can now be found at its Fifth Avenue flagship.

Valdés’ sculptures and paintings are currently on display in the windows, while Larry Forgione’s restaurant, An American Place, opened on the fifth floor.

“People are drawn to art, so it’s no wonder that Lord & Taylor would want to bring art into its store,” said Valdés.

Meanwhile, Lavelle Olexa, senior vice president of fashion direction, spoke about the ideal connection between the store and the food. “It’s the perfect marriage between an American store and An American Place,” she said.
