Lacroix said he opted for denim because he wanted to do an accessible, affordable collection with a modern spirit. It includes printed T-shirts starting at around $52 and skirts and jeans in stretch denim from $170 to $250. Standout pieces include a jeans jacket with an enormous jeweled Byzantine cross for about $525 and a fur jacket for about $1,250 with an embroidered heart that originally appeared on the back of a bridal outfit in 1987.
The collection, labeled Christian Lacroix 15, is slated for October delivery in Lacroix boutiques and select specialty stores. The Lacroix house is part of luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
