Lingerie Americas, set for the landmark Metropolitan Pavilion & Altman Building on West 18th Street, is scheduled for a lively and expanded second act that begins its three-day run on Sunday.
The French-operated fair will feature an expanded show directory, which has been used by retailers as a reference guide of trends and vendor information, two Trend Forums and a series of intimate apparel seminars, said Patrice Argain, chief executive officer of Coscob, Conn.-based Lingerie Americas.
Marie Mangeot, project director for the show, said 170 brands will be exhibited by 100 participating companies from Europe, Canada, Asia, South America and the Middle East.
"Thirty percent of the brands will be exhibiting at our show for the first time," said Mangeot. "It’s a very positive sign. This will not only be a foundations show, but will also showcase a number of well-known sleepwear and daywear brands as well as some men’s underwear and swimwear."
More than 1,600 visitors attended the first Lingerie Americas fair in August, 1,400 of which were buyers. Based on pre-registration information, she said show organizers expect a turnout of more than 2,000 in March.
"Our goal is to secure regular visits from buyers, because it’s still a young show," said Mangeot. "We want to secure names, increase brand recognition and make the Lingerie Americas show an indispensable visit for buyers."
Etro’s show, titled “The Tree of Life,” was a celebration of the house’s 50th anniversary. “My father founded the company in 1968, which was the year of counterculture and psychedelia. It’s really a show that celebrates that and the paisley design of India and its origin,” said Veronica Etro. #wwdfashion #mfw #ss18 (📷: @delphineachard)
