Fleur Turner had dreamt of designing lingerie since she was 10 years old, simply because of the "smallness and detail of it." After graduating with honors in fashion marketing from England’s University of Northumbria, Turner set out to design a limited-edition lingerie line catering to women of all ages. The resulting line, called Fleur T — pronounced "flirty" — "is about creating something that is almost couture, but most importantly very, very feminine," she said.
Turner’s first collection, called Stiletto, was launched on Valentine’s Day this year. It features a shoe print inked onto a background of light pink silk. The line was immediately snapped up by U.K. retailer Liberty. An exclusive line for the store is underway, consisting of soft cotton demi bras and hipster panties in floral prints and slated to bow in October.
Turner has just completed her second collection, for fall, called Kitten, which is silk-screened with cartoon-like cats. Prices are $75-$125 for camisoles and $50-$95 for panties. The line will be sold at department stores Fortnum and Mason and House of Fraser. Turner, whose studio is in Surrey, just south of London, is already planning on extending the line to swimwear, home accessories and bath products. She’s already dreamed up the theme of her spring 2003 collection, Tweet, which will be filled with — what else — a host of feathered friends.
