PARIS — Let the others hit the red carpet in their jeans. Liv Tyler, that fashion lover, knows how to make an entrance. On Tuesday night, she took Hollywood glamour to the hilt, swanning into the Rex theater for the Paris premiere of “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers,” wearing a custom-made gown by Alexander McQueen constructed from 273 yards of silk organza. The dress combined two designs from McQueen’s spring collection and featured 2,000 fluttering circles layered to look like an oyster’s shell. “Liv captures everything a modern woman should be — strong, independent and intelligent,” said McQueen. “She makes the clothes a part of her. She is truly iconic.” And she’s not afraid to show it.
