Louis Verdad moved away from his vintage party clothes look, offering a more grown-up, tailored wardrobe. It all had an easy flair via a liberal use of clean, dark indigo denim. He was at his best when he interpreted his signature Thirties-style silhouettes — godet skirts lined in hot pink, cape jackets, peplum tops — in the utilitarian denim. However, his version of basics, like a chambray button-up blouse, looked cumbersome.
