LOS ANGELES — This fashion week, several hot Angeleno designers gave their East Coast counterparts a run for their money with tight spring collections.
Alicia Lawhon, that earthy poster girl of Silverlake cool, seemed to be in love with the idea of love. "These clothes are for long walks, holding hands, for everything you do when it’s spring and you are in love with life," she said in her show notes. At a downtown warehouse, ruby red lightbulbs illuminated the romantic notions she sent out — ribbon-trimmed camis, voile sundresses and skirts with hand-embroidered yarn flowers. While the girlish spirit is new territory for Lawhon, the details, such as contrast insets and trim on a classic blazer, were signature.
"I think that all anyone really wants in life is to have people understand us for who we actually are, despite everything," says Ruth Negga. The actress talks "Preachers" season 2 and more on WWD.com. #wwdeye (📷: Dan Doperalski)
"That's something that resonates with me too because I'm so locked into a number. If I go over that number it completely ruins my day so it's nice to get detached from the number on the scale." - Chelsea Handler on Kelly LeVeque's book "Body Love." #wwdeye (📷: John Salangsang)
