NEW YORK — Terry Lundgren, chairman and chief executive officer of Federated Department Stores, declined to comment Thursday on what acquisitions the retailer would like to make.
Does he want to buy May Department Stores? How about Neiman Marcus?
“I don’t comment on rumors,” said Lundgren as he exited the Vera Wang show holding hands with his fiancée, Tina Stephan. “I’m just interested in buying clothes.”
So what does the Federated chief think of the season so far?
“I feel good about what’s happening for fall,” said Lundgren, adding that he likes that the American collections are getting so much attention from international buyers.
As for his own plans this year, Lundgren said he and Stephan haven’t picked a wedding date yet, nor has she selected a wedding gown. He said it all depends on the type of wedding they have. “We can have 20 on the beach or 1,000 people at St. Patrick’s,” he said.
“I’m just enjoying being engaged,” added Stephan.
