Marc Stone’s men’s collection was comprised of simple lines and a basic palette in keeping with Berlin’s current craze for minimalism. Gray was the order of the day, from pale fitted pants to granite one-button, single-breasted suit jackets and slim wool charcoal knits. The Zürich-based Stone, who won Premium’s Young Designer Award in July 2011, was obviously unafraid to experiment with cuts: one successful hybrid was a hooded gray reefer in a heavy rough wool, paired with dress sweats, as well as a suit comprised of a frock jacket and short dress pants. Stone frequently mixed sportswear elements with more formal items, such as a fitted slate gray jacket with a circle seam across the shoulders worn over slouchy, drawstring pants in the same color. This season also saw the introduction of hand-crafted leather accessories and two-toned underwear that cut quite a figure.
