Marcel Ostertag’s collection, which he named Meet Me in Scotland Darling, put the tart in tartan. The Munich-based designer envisioned cocktail hour for a Celtic jet set, one that seemed to prefer sequins to kilts. He paired plaids with his own prints, including digitally treated photo-realistic motifs of parrot feathers in brilliant blues and greens, and chain knits in moody grays and yellows, all worked on flared trousers and slim skirts. Double peplumed dresses and endless variations on color-blocked shifts failed to thrill, but Ostertag’s outerwear was once again strong. Silk and satin trenches in shimmering petrol, taupe and teal came long or cropped, some accented with fluttering shoulder ruffles. There were also quilted wool and cashmere coats, while motorcycle jackets sported contrast trim and disco-ready sparkle.
