LIM’S HONOREES: Valentino chief executive officer Graziano de Boni, Jeffrey New York’s Jeffrey Kalinsky and Harper’s Bazaar editor in chief Glenda Bailey will be honored by the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising, the College for the Business of Fashion, at this year’s “Making It…” gala. The trio will be guests of honor at a May 2 dinner for 400 at the Metropolitan Club.
“This year’s honorees are some of the top image makers and success stories in the business right now, and we hope our students find their careers inspirational and that they will eventually be at the top of the industry as well,” said LIM president Elizabeth Marcuse.
CALLING CARMEN: Carmen Marc Valvo has been named designer judge and honoree for RadiciSpandex Corp.’s “Stretch to the Future” design scholarship competition. He will be feted when the winner is announced May 8 at the Italian Trade Commission. For the first time, the company will be working in New York with college-level students — the junior class of the Fashion School of Kent State University. In the past seven years, RadiciSpandex has worked with the High School of Fashion Industries.
NEW AT FIT: The Laura and John Pomerantz presentation room will be dedicated April 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Fashion Institute of Technology’s David Dubinsky Student Center. Fashion merchandising management students will use the facility to learn how to create professional presentations.
FASHION HIGH: Tracy Reese, Joseph Abboud, André Leon Talley and men’s wear industry veteran Jack Herschlag will be guests of honor at the High School of Fashion Industries’ 81st anniversary celebration and student fashion show May 23. The school is at 225 West 24th Street in Manhattan.
