STUDIO I STEPS OUT: Studio I, a New York-based moderate-price dress and suit firm, has opened a misses' evening dress division for spring under the Studio Nite label. The collection is designed by Linda Bernell, who also designs the firm's Delaru junior evening dress collection.
Debbie Baron, formerly in sales at Karen Kane Co., has been brought in as sales manager for Studio Nite. She reports to Fattameh Bahari, president and a principal in the firm. Bahari also designs the Studio I collection.
The new line wholesales for $59 to $125. It features such fabrics as rayon crepe, polyester and rayon chiffons, embellished with re-embroidered lace and beading. Studio Nite projects sales of about $5 million in the first year. It will share showroom space with the Delaru line at 1400 Broadway.
CARDLIN DIRECTS HOOK LINE: Pat Cardlin has been named director of the licensed J.G. Hook Dress division of the Et Al Group, New York.
Cardlin's duties include merchandising, marketing and sales. She formerly worked in sales for the J.G. Hook Dress and Suit division of the He-Ro Group when that company held the license. Et Al got the Hook dress license in November.
Cardlin will work with Eric King, a vice president at Et Al. King projects first-year sales of about $10 million.
Ronnie Rosado has rejoined the company as fashion director and designer for the Et Al collection. Rosado was a designer with the firm from 1985 to 1989. She was head designer at Eneste here from 1989 until her reappointment at Et Al.
London’s newly opened @designmuseum will look back on the life and work of Azzedine Alaïa in a show that the designer helped to curate before he died of heart failure last month. The retrospective, which Alaïa had worked on with Mark Wilson, chief curator of the @groningermuseum, will look at the impact of his work worldwide. The space, which is located on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, draws inspiration from airport luggage carousels and lounge areas – and features the company’s luggage and accessories. This Just In: Industry sources have told WWD that Anastasia Soare is rumored to be considering selling her beauty business, @anastasiabeverlyhills. According to those sources, Soare has tapped investment bank Imperial Capital to explore sale options for her eponymous beauty brand –– and with at least $340 million in net sales, this would be a big deal. In yet another fashion show shuffle, @elleryland is moving its show in sync with the Paris couture calendar — though the brand is still keeping one foot on the city’s ready-to-wear schedule. Their runway show in January will coincide with the launch of a new strategy: designing two main collections each year instead of four, which will then be released in four drops. “As we all know, the system needs to change.
