"Raw yet refined,” was Max and Lubov Azria’s intention, according to the show notes.

And while the textural burlaps, linens and gauzes gave everything a fresh, organic feel, the duo hit just shy of the refined mark.

Though it may not appeal to those front-row Hollywood ingenues the Azrias court for the red carpet, this less put-together look isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially since the designers trimmed a lot of the fussy, pintucked tricks that bogged down last season. The gentle, loose, often wrinkled silhouettes in earth tones looked both current and comfortable.
