ACTION, BUT STILL TALK: Despite rumors of a big shakeup at Conde Nast, the company announced Thursday at its publisher’s dinner at the Four Seasons that it had named three new vice presidents: Lou Cona, publisher of Vanity Fair, Sandy Golinkin, publisher of Lucky, and Brenda Saget, publisher of House & Garden. In addition, it named Richard Beckman, vp and publisher of Vogue, “Publisher of the Year,” even though his numbers were off. The promotions come in the midst of speculation that Ron Galotti, president of the former Talk magazine, is headed back to Conde Nast in a top corporate post. One scenario has him replacing Pete Hunsinger, who some thought might return to Vanity Fair to replace Cona. Could Cona’s new title be another “promotion” like that of Deborah Fine and Kathy Leventhal? Theirs came shortly before their exit.

Meanwhile, Galotti said this week, “I’m still contractually here with Miramax. I haven’t talked to them [Conde Nast]. At this stage, I’m trying to wind down and find everybody jobs. That’s the priority. I’ll figure it out.”

REVLON’S CHOICE: Revlon has consolidated its entire advertising business with Deutsch Inc., the $1.8 billion marketing and communications company, by awarding the agency its flagship Revlon brand. With the addition of this assignment, Deutsch will now handle all advertising and media planning for all the brands marketed by Revlon Inc., which industry sources peg at $125 million in billings.

Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners most recently handled the Revlon brand account and will assist in the transition. Earlier, Tarlow Advertising handled all the Revlon brands.

In February 2001, Deutsch was awarded the creative development for the Almay Brand and the media buying for all of Revlon, Almay and the portfolio brands.

Jeffrey Nugent, president of Revlon, said Revlon’s ad campaigns will continue with the same talent: Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, James King and Caroline Ribiero.

COVER STORY: Vanessa Grigoriadis has written the cover story for next week’s New York magazine about the murder of Christa Worthington, the freelance writer who was stabbed to death in Truro, Mass., earlier this month.

Grigoriadis said she spent time on Cape Cod to research the story and spoke to, among others, fisherman Tony Jackett, the father of Worthington’s child. Did she make any headway in solving the murder? “Everybody’s a suspect” was all she would say.

BAZAAR’S MODEL FIX: In recent months, models have lost ground to celebrities when it comes to snagging magazine covers — but Harper’s Bazaar seems intent on remedying that. Having offered up Gisele Bundchen — twice — on its February cover, the now fully Glenda-ized Bazaar has selected model Carolyn Murphy for its March cover. Murphy’s been a busy cover girl thus far this year — she’s currently gracing the cover of February’s Elle.

BEAUTY MANEUVERS: Makeup guru Kevyn Aucoin will write his last column for Allure in February. The makeup artist has been penning a monthly column for Allure since July 1999. Before that, he was a contributing editor from 1991 to 1996. Now that Aucoin has his own beauty line, Allure felt it would be a conflict of interest. Allure doesn’t plan to replace him, but instead will rotate different experts.
