Over the past few years, American trouser manufacturers have successfully introduced youthful variations on the flat-front pant as a wardrobe staple and alternative to classic pleated styles. Now the emergence of the “slouch look” in the designer world shows iconic pleats in a youthful new light. As a result, the two ends of the market are converging. “I believe there is a sophistication in the drape of an American pleated pant,” said Mike Cohen, president of Oxxford Clothing. Look for a deep single, double or even triple pleat on both full-cut and straight-leg slacks.
