In Berlin Fashion Week’s traditional coda, Michael Michalsky packed in some 1,500 guests to his music and fashion mixed Michalsky Stylenite. While Michalsky likes to periodically change beats on the music front — this time featuring Swedish pop rock band The Majority Says as well as Lisa Stansfield — the designer’s signature style is almost doggedly consistent.
That meant contemporary homeboy streetwear for men, which, under the new Michalsky Atelier label, featured motorcycle riffs in shearling; casual tailored looks including a black suit accessorized with gangster chains, a black shirt and tie with pearl tie pin; quilted leather and leather-fabric mix baseball jackets, and joggers in everything from athletic gray knit to dress denim.
Michalsky’s women also got their versions of dress jogging pants, baseball and motorcycle jackets and long and short parkas to wear over metallic rhinestoned jumpsuits. There were also some kittenish touches like a pink fur top, leather midcalf swing skirts and beaded bodice gowns that fared best in leather.
